Taste & Tapas Tours Barcelona
A tour de force of Barcelona Tapa lore.

Welcome to the Rambles, the Raval, the Gothic and Born districts of Barcelona, The Santa Maria del Mar Cathederal marks the centre of this happening and cool area where alongside the new designer shops we find old grocers stores, fine restaurants and great wine and tapa bars.

We will taste tapas and wine from all over Spain, from Galicia and Austuries, from Catalunya and the Basque country. Our tour will include stops at historic Tapas bars, famous Grocers shops and hidden away Dairies, such as, El Seu, where Cathrine Mc Laughlin, will talk us through a selection of non-pasteurised small production Spanish cheese.

Taste dry Xacoli and tapa "creations" of the Basque country, acorn fed ham from the "Pata Negre" black footed Spanish pig. Spontaneous tapas at La Xampaneta, Cava and croquettes in Barcelona's oldest tavern and delights such as Octopus from the coast of Galicia with fresh "Vino Verde" wine from a ceramic cup at the Bar Celta.

...and along the way you will learn about historic buildings, facinating events of bravery and courage, where the best night clubs are, and enough art, archietecture and culture to write a doctorate.

Classic Catalan Gastronomy & Wine

One of our favourite haunts is the Gran Café in C/Aviño. just around the corner from the Plaza Sant Jaime and a block away from the Cathedral of Barcelona. While the piano plays standards, a skillful team will assemble the meal, allowing us to present the finest of Catalan wines and cavas in a very relaxed fashion
Lunch or dinner with accompanied tasting of 6 fine Catalan wines. Paddy mannion will interpret the menu with you to select a variety of dishes that best suit the wines of Southern Catalunya. Also at locations in Penedes / Barcelona city / Sitges

Cooking & Wine Workshops

While Stefan “Festis” Lismond introduces you to Crema Catalana, Pa amb Tomaquet, Flan, Fideau, Paella, Xato salad and Romesco sauce, Paddy “ Miller” Mannion will be popping corks and stories on a whole selection of inspiring and complimentary brews of Catalunya.
You can expect to find yourself helping to prepare a Paella or discovering the secrets of slow cooked Penedès rooster and Romesco sauce.

Stefan and Paddy have 6 years experience running Can Festis restaurant and Country hotel. Can Festis now forms part of the history of Penedès but this eclectic duo continue to cook, uncork, serve and entertain with ever greater success. Come along and shop, prep, cook and enjoy a 4 course meal accompanied by stories and wines of Southern Catalunya.

Catalan Country Calçotades

We bring you the classic Catalan tradition of vine roasted spring onions served with creamy Romesco sauce. We have arranged calçotades on the scenic sides of mountains, in the gardens of Catalan country "masias" and wineries, as well as in the rustic atmosphere of El Molí, a 18C paper mill. A calçotada is an ideal chill out for large groups of friends and collegues, involving a journey into the country, a visit to a local winery, some light exercise, and the traditional onion feast accompanied by vermouth, picapic, grilled "buitfarra" and lamb, all washed down with hardy wines from a "Porron" drinking vessel. For dessert there is traditional "Coca" and Cava. White polos and blouses should be avoided in favour of thrusty wolly jumpers and informal wear.
